VisitGeorgia Guides Academy

Celebrating our 25th  Guides Award ceremony, we proudly introduce 17 new guides who’ve completed their training and are ready to showcase Georgia’s beauty and culture.

As part of their four-month journey, our guides embarked on practical training, which was described as more engaging and intensive. Alongside practical sessions, they also received first-aid courses to enhance their capabilities. They demonstrated dedication and passion for the profession. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our mentors for their guidance and support along the way.

This graduation marks a significant milestone for us, demonstrating our commitment to fostering the next generation of tourism ambassadors. We sincerely wish the new guides success as they embark on their journeys.

This prestigious recognition is given to the best companies identified as statistically ranked leading enterprises in the top ratings of UNBR (Union of National Business Rankings) throughout Georgia.

VisitGeorgia is happy to announce that we have engaged with the Travelife for Tour Operator & Travel Agents scheme. Travelife for Tour Operators and Travel Agents is internationally recognized and supported by the global travel industry as the preferred sustainability training, management, and certification program for sustainability in tourism. Moreover, Travelife standards are formally recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).

 

Travelife is a three-stage certification program for tour operators and travel agents: (1) Travelife Engaged; (2) Travelife Partner and (3) Travelife Certified. We are at stage 1 – Travelife Engaged. We are working to move forward to stage 2 – Travelife Partner. To reach the Travelife Partner, we must meet the standard of over 100 sustainability criteria that can be grouped into five key areas: Office operations; Product development; Working with suppliers; Customer relations, and Destinations.

 

Our aim is to strengthen our commitment to sustainability management and to turn it into consistent sustainable business practices in tourism. From an industry ethical perspective, we believe sustainability statements should be third-party justified and certified. That’s why we chose Travelife for Tour Operators & Travel Agents for our sustainability engagement.

The professional guide training courses at the VisitGeorgia Academy came to an end recently. During the last 4-month training course, the primary focus of the sessions was on acquiring theoretical knowledge and developing guiding skills.

Our guides had started practical training, which was more engaging and intensive. In addition, they were also receiving first-aid courses.

We are excited to announce that by the end of April, around twenty new guides had joined our team of successful and highly
qualified guides. We wish them all the best in their new roles!

Mestia is one of the winners of the “Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO” project of the United Nations World Tourism Organization. It is worth noting that Mestia was selected among more than 130 destination applications from 57 member countries of the United Nations World Tourism Organization, which is a great achievement.

The “Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO” project is one of the most important initiatives of the World Tourism Organization, according to which the winner status is awarded to locations with outstanding destinations; A destination where exemplary rural tourism is developed has recognized cultural and natural resources and at the same time actively and effectively provides for interests and needs based on the basic values ​​and lifestyle of the local community. The winning villages in the “Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO” nomination have a clear vision of the sustainable development of tourism, which is aimed at the economic and social development of the local community.

The United Nations World Tourism Organization, the winning direction in the project, significantly contributes to making tourism the main driving force of its sustainable development, both in the economic and social, as well as in the ecological direction. It is important to note that it is raising its awareness as a destination distinguished by the level of rural tourism development in the international arena.

Within the framework of the project, the winning location of “Best Tourism Villages by UNWTO” is also given the opportunity to become part of the global network of leading destinations in the direction of rural tourism development, which provides a good opportunity for mutual sharing of best experiences among its members.
